The flag of Uruguay includes nine horizontal bands alternating blue and white. The canton of the flag is white. On the canton there is the Sun of May, national emblem of Argentina and Uruguay, represented by the sun in splendour with 16 rays colored yellow and brown. The flag was adopted in 1830.
