The current version of the national flag of Cyprus was adopted in 2006. There have been chosen peaceful and neutral symbols to manifest harmony between the conflicting Turkish and Greek communities. On the flag, there is an orange shape of the island and two olive branches below it. The background is white. The current version of the flag of Cyprus represents a slightly modified elder version of the flag used in 1960-2006; no elements were added or removed, the flag only changed the design.
