The actual flag of the Bahamas was adopted in 1973. It replaced the British Blue Ensign defaced with the emblem of the Crown Colony of the Bahama Islands. The flag includes a black triangle representing a chevron at the hoist, two horizontal aquamarine bands, and a gold one between them.
