Fiji is an island country located in the South Pacific Ocean. It constitutes part of Melanesia, a subregion of Oceania. The flag of Fiji represents a defaced Blue Ensign with a light blue background and a shield taken from the country’s national coat of arms in the fly. This shield contains a lion symbolizing the United Kingdom, sugarcane, bananas, a coconut palm, and a dove, symbol of peace. The flag was adopted in 1970.
