Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory. The flag of Gibraltar represents an elongated banner of arms based on the national coat of arms. On the flag, there is a red castle and a gold key hanging below it. The castle is placed on a white band while the key is placed on a red band which is two times narrower than the white one. Both bands constitute the full background of the flag. The flag was adopted in 1982.
