The flag of Malta represents a bicolor flag with a hoist colored white and a fly colored red. In the canton there is a George Cross, the noble award of the United Kingdom honours system. The cross is gray and has a thin red border. According to a tradition the colors of the Malta’s flag were given to Maltese by Roger I, the first Count of Sicily. The flag was adopted in 1964.
